Spaces & Estates · Open role
Read the body and give it what it needs.
You provide massage, bodywork, and recovery for residents and guests, reading what a body needs that day instead of running a fixed menu. You work alongside the trainer and the chef so recovery, movement, and nutrition reinforce each other.
Mission
What the role does and why it matters here.
At Lucentive Spaces' sanctuaries on the Portuguese coast, recovery is treated the same as movement and food: a condition that keeps people able to do their best work, not an indulgence. As Wellness Practitioner you provide massage, bodywork, and recovery support directly to residents and guests, reading what a person's body actually needs that day rather than running a fixed treatment menu. You work alongside the trainer and the chef, not apart from them. Recovery, movement, and nutrition either reinforce each other or they don't, and that coordination is part of the job.
Responsibilities
What you would own.
Provide massage, bodywork, and recovery treatments tailored to each resident or guest.
Read physical tension, fatigue, and recovery needs, and adjust technique and session length accordingly.
Maintain a treatment space and equipment to a consistently high standard of care and hygiene.
Coordinate with the personal trainer so training load and recovery work support each other.
Educate residents on simple recovery practices they can use between sessions, without overstepping into medical advice.
Keep clear, private records of client preferences and any relevant health considerations.
Adapt your offering as the mix of guests and their needs changes week to week.
How you think and work
Six traits the work demands.
Craft and hands-on experience matter here, and the useful background below names what we look for. But the filter underneath is disposition: the six traits are what the work actually asks of you, every day, around residents and guests.
Agentic intuition
You read a room and the people in it the way a seasoned host does: you notice when something is off before it's said, and you know when to step in and when to leave well alone.
You feel where the tension actually is versus where someone says it is, and you work the real problem.
Critical thinking
Confident-sounding output gets the same scrutiny as anything else, your own work included.
When a recurring complaint doesn't resolve with your usual approach, you question the diagnosis, not just repeat the treatment.
Curiosity
You pull on threads. You read outside the lane. You follow a question past the first plausible answer.
You keep adding to what you can offer instead of running the same session on everyone who walks in.
Agency
You move without being told. You decide, ship, own the call. No one has to write the playbook for you.
You've changed a planned treatment mid-session because what you found didn't match what was booked.
Systems thinking, long view
You see how the parts connect, and where this goes in three years.
You think about a resident's recovery pattern across the whole stay, not just today's session.
Leadership instinct
You set a clear standard for the people around you and maintain it under pressure, moving between a guest, a vendor, and your own team in the same hour without losing what matters.
Trainers and household staff trust your read on when someone needs rest more than another push.
Useful background
- Certified training in massage therapy, bodywork, or a recognized recovery discipline.
- Experience working one-on-one with clients over repeat sessions, not just single treatments.
- Sound judgment about the line between wellness practice and medical concerns, and when to refer out.
- Discretion: you'll be trusted with people's bodies and their guard down, both.
- Portuguese or English fluent enough for client consultation.
- Additional modalities (stretch therapy, myofascial release, cupping, or similar).
- Experience working alongside trainers or physiotherapists as part of a coordinated program.
- Comfort adapting a practice to different cultural expectations around touch and treatment.
The useful background is where the craft shows; the traits are where the fit does. We read an application for both. Applications in English or Portuguese are equally welcome.
